Private Party

Selling a vehicle to another individual without going through a dealership is what is known as a “private party” transaction.

At the time of sale, the private party must have the vehicle’s title in their possession in order to sign the vehicle over to the buyer,
To transfer the vehicle’s title, the private party must pay off any remaining lien balance and do so in accordance with the lienholder’s instructions.
