Power of Attorney (POA)

Legal documents such as powers of attorney (POA) give third parties, such as banks, the authority to act on your behalf.

A limited power of attorney may be requested from you by the lender or their representative during the course of an auto loan transaction. As a general rule, a power of attorney for the Department of Motor Vehicles or Secretary of State is used for only those transactions that are necessary to secure a lien on the vehicle.
